Penella burnet

I flutter over your bones and they fray out of their weak pale skin

so close to the reaper you are swallowed in his spindly arms

I dance upon his head hoping he makes this painful and thin

I watch as the opal light leaves your eyesI wish I had your charms

to see death so soon instead of waiting ages I’ll flutter away a grin

as you topple like a bridge of silk and get sent off away to the farms

I celebrate in envy and fly above your coffin humming away

I know it’ll be my turn this time I just know it won’t lead me astray
